The Whidbey Island Nordic Lodge was founded on May 19, 2001 with 102 Charter members. The Lodge is an island-wide organization of individuals who recognize the rich Nordic history found on Whidbey Island and who are dedicated to promoting and cherishing an appreciation of this Nordic history, heritage and culture.
General Meetings are held once a month September through May on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 11 a.m. – in our facility located at 63 Jacobs Road, Coupeville, WA.
The Lodge is administered by an Executive Board that is elected every two years. Lodge Executive Officers for 2018-2019 are: Brian Petersen, President; Norm Skurdal, 1st V.P., Ingri Johnson, 2nd V.P., Warren Scholl, Secretary; and Liz Berg, Treasurer. This Board meets once a month to administer & manage Lodge business. Any member at-large interested in participating in these meetings is invited and encouraged to do so.
An Operations Team, consisting of members elected to serve on the Nordic Lodge Building Association, advises Lodge Executive Officers on the operations and maintenance of the Fritz Cornell Nordic Hall.
The Lodge publishes an E-Newsletter Øy Nordic Nyheter, and communicates Lodge news and activities via this newsletter as well as through this website. Members without Internet access receive a print copy of the monthly E-news.
