4-H kids introduced to home-grown trolls

4-H TrollsThe Whidbey Island Nordic Lodge once again participated in the annual Whidbey Island Super Saturday 4-H event, held this year at the Island County Fairgrounds in Langley on February 21st.  Lodge members Emilly McCormick, Ingri Johnson and Cherie Iverson set up tables providing the 4-H’ers with supplies to make Scandinavian rock trolls!  Five students ranging in age from 9 to 14 all arrived ready to immerse themselves in this Scandinavian craft project.  With rocks & shells from the Island, yarn & twine for braiding troll tails and other craft supplies in hand, the adventure began!   The students were reported as amazing, apparently not hesitating for even a second; the hot glue gun was not njsw_emilly_&_cheri_at_rock_troll_4-h_event_(3)ew to any of them and they just took off with their own creative energy, imagination and talent.  Lodge members found it inspiring and pure fun to watch them create their own version of a troll. No longer can anyone  involved in this event look at rock and not see it as a Scandinavian troll!
